High demands are placed on medical specialists involved in the elimination of medical and sanitary consequences of emergencies in terms of their special training. The objective of the study was to establish the level of professional competencies in providing emergency medical care and to determine the need for advanced training in disaster medicine for doctors of non-staff formations of the disaster medicine service (DMS) of city polyclinics. Data were collected using an anonymous questionnaire survey, the sample size was 262 people. The study found that only 46.7% of respondents have the necessary practical skills, the greatest difficulties are caused by tracheal intubation (24.0%), tracheostomy in case of asphyxia and the ability to use equipment for artificial ventilation of the lungs (27.1% each). A high degree of need of medical specialists for additional professional training in disaster medicine as part of advanced training courses was also revealed: only 26.0% of doctors over the past 5 years were trained in disaster medicine as part of additional professional education, 79.4% of respondents reported the need to study disaster medicine issues. Thus, the staffing of non-staff QMS formations should be carried out only by medical specialists who have undergone training in disaster medicine. When developing additional professional programs in disaster medicine, it is advisable to provide for the interaction of disaster medicine departments with specialized clinical departments to consolidate the skills of performing medical manipulations to provide emergency medical care.
