Due to the current social trends, the educational paradigm shifts to practice-oriented competencies, especially in medical training. Its goal is to examine whether it is possible to use a student workbook as a tool for practice-oriented training under additional professional programs in Healthcare Management and Public Health. This workbook can be used to initiate independent learning of students who are involved in full- and part-time professional retraining. The tool consists of five sections devoted to the discipline methodology, medical demography and morbidity of population, pressing issues of medical insurance, provision of medical aid, and legal aspects of healthcare activity. It embraces various types of practical tasks including cases and real-life legal scenarios. Practical tasks within the workbook are in compliance with the professional standard for a specialist in healthcare management and public health and targeted primarily at analytical competencies of
specialists. A teacher grades papers and provides qualitative feedback. Thus, the workbook is an effective tool of the educational process that builds and maintains required practical skills among specialists in healthcare management and public health.
