The scientific school of the Department of Pediatrics of the Faculty of Medicine dates back more than 110 years. The origins of the scientific school were the outstanding pediatricians A.A. Kisel, N.I. Langovoy, A.A. Koltypin and others. Head of the department M.M. Bubnova became the founder of the national school of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. An outstanding scientist, pediatrician, teacher, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation M. Ya. Studenikin, who headed the department for almost 40 years, made a huge contribution to the development of the national pediatric school. Today the department is headed by S.S. Paunova, who rightfully considers herself a graduate of an outstanding national pediatric school. Nowadays, the department occupies a worthy place among similar departments of medical universities around the world and steadily follows the example of its teachers in medical, educational and scientific activities, continuing the traditions of the founders of domestic pediatrics.
