Dear colleagues!

Scientific schools, being the vanguard of scientific development, have always determined its prospects, rise, and their achievements have expressed the main milestones of the social, economic, technological, and cultural development of the country. The uniqueness of scientific schools as educational institutions lies in the personal interest and involvement of all participants in this scientific community in the creative research process, and belonging to a specific scientific school forms personal responsibility for preserving the heritage of the school, its social and historical significance. A special role in this belongs to the founders of scientific schools.

The Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov has always occupied a special place in the history of the development of domestic medicine due to the fact that the scientific schools of the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute - the 2nd Moscow State Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov - Russian State Medical University - Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov formed the basis of domestic healthcare and created conditions for the recognition of domestic medicine at the world level. The personnel basis of a scientific school as a creative scientific team has traditionally been and is made up of departments of universities, academies, institutes. Currently, the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University has adopted the practice of naming departments after the founder of a scientific school, whose ideas are now being developed by worthy successors - teachers, scientists, doctors.

In order to provide information support to the activities of scientific schools of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, the scientific and methodological journal "Methodology and Technology of Continuous Professional Education" offers readers a thematic issue dedicated to the activities of the scientific schools of the 2nd Moscow State Medical University - the 2nd Moscow State Medical University named after N. I. Pirogov - Russian State Medical University - Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.

With this thematic issue, the journal opens a regular column "Medical Schools of Russia" dedicated to the history and activities of domestic medical scientific schools, and invites organizations and authors to collaborate with materials dedicated to the history of development and an overview of the main ideas of domestic scientific schools.
