The paper describes the main trends in educational, scientific and project activities of the Department of Medical Cybernetics and Computer Science starting from its organization to the present. Special attention is paid to the contribution of Gasparyan SA to solving the problems of healthcare informatization in the Russian Federation, namely, creating a classification of medical information systems, a model for assessing public health, criteria for evaluating the activities of healthcare institutions, services and medical universities.
