The article presents the history of the educational, scientific and clinical activities of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology named after B.S. Preobrazhensky, Faculty of Medicine, Russian National Research Medical University named after academician N.I. Pirogov. The history of the department and clinic is inextricably linked with the formation and development of the Russian otolaryngological school. The history of the department is presented from the 19th century to the present.
